Appearance: Maya, with her pale skin and clear eyes, gives off a pure, 'holy' impression. For some people, however, she's viewed as ghostly pale and given the bad eye. She's taller than the average and frail-bodied.

Personality

Personality: Her safe, loving upbringing made her into a kind, gentle person. She's known to be playfully mischievous, but it never goes beyond a harmless prank. Shielded from danger all her life, she is very naive, annoyingly so for anyone who's seen the harsh realities of life. That is her biggest flaws, but others would be that she's stubborn, impulsive and a bit of an airhead. She is overly-trusting, and can't read between the lines or figure out someone's true face without seeing it firsthand. Because of that, she can be easily manipulated or harmed by anyone with a little acting skills pretending to have good intentions. She's not much a fighter, but she does have bravery and great cooperation skills to compensate.

Despite being an only child, she was taught to open up to people, perhaps a bit too much. On the other hand, while she welcomes and treats everyone she meets with the same good nature, she has yet to form a long-lasting bond with anyone, save her parents. Those two are dearest to her; they've always given her the love she needs.

She is very drawn to nature and will often seek recluse in a green-filled place. She enjoys moments of calm meditation, once again gained from how she was raised.

As for her awareness of the world, she's been taught the overview on ancient and current history by her parents. She has scarce knowledge on wars and conflicts outside of Ventus. From age 14, her parents gave her the freedom to venture out by herself and learn on her own, after 'home-schooling' her during her tender years. Her eagerness to learn and curious nature she developed from that time on is what helps her fill the blanks of what she knows.

Likes:

• Exploring; her curiosity knows no bounds and nothing appeals to her more when she visits a new place but having a look around.
  
• Practising her wind control. She is creative and enjoys finding unconventional ways of using her element. It's also since she wishes for her parents to be proud.

Dislikes:

• The geography of Ventus: as aforementioned, she prizes nature, yet finding greenery in the rocky plateau that is most of Ventus is rather bothersome.
  
• Selfishness; being selfless herself, she dislikes and avoids people who think only of themselves.

Elemental Strengths

• Support attacks, from the sidelines. For example, enhancing a fire attack.
  
• Shield of wind: by making wind circle around her at great speed, she creates a shield capable of protecting her and at most two other people. The shield rejects any object, moderately heavy, thrown at it.
  

Elemental Weaknesses

• Her lack of focus and experience leave precise, and thus effective, attacks out of the question.
  
• Strong winds: speed being her strength, the wind she musters up lacks the power to lift, move, or cause any real damage to heavy, massive objects.
  

Background

History: Maya's birth and childhood were nothing out of the ordinary. Her story started when Ana and Gabriel met, one the apprentice of the other. The two fell in love and conceived this child to whom they gave all their love and bestowed upon all their hopes. The newly found family lived on the edge of a town, closer to the flatland where Maya could have access to a little greenery. It's in this semi-secluded environment that Maya was raised, and home-schooled. It was from the age of five that her parents began teaching her the mastery of wind. They saw immense potential in their daughter and made sure to nurture it well. But, first and foremost, she was taught respect; of herself, of others and of the environment. She was kept on a tight leash, as her parents were worried about the world tainting her. They didn't deny her contact with the outside, but they kept a keen eye on the people she frequented and the places she wandered off to.

It was only upon her fourteenth birthday that they decided it was time to let her forge her own vision of the world, without their constant protection. Otherwise, she would only be subject to more danger. So, while still caring for her, they only watched from the sidelines as Maya bloomed faster than ever before. Her parents' teachings were forever engraved in her mind, but she added to them what she learned herself Her curiosity was insatiable and her desire to see the world, imposing. Such an obsession made it so she would inevitably have to learn about the conflicts and tensions abroad.

That is to say, she has started learning about them, and slowly her dream of seeing the world for leisure purposes only is starting to shift more towards helping people along the way. She wants to travel and help people in need, if only a little; she's seen enough of the peaceful life surrounding her quiet, edge-of-town life. And, with the blessing of her parents, she can now go off to see the rest of Ventus as well as the rest of the world.

RP Sample: The rain had been going on for awhile now; almost the whole day and then the thunder and the lightning had followed. She disliked the rain: it dimmed the smells of nature until everything reeked of water and mud. The dark forests were gloomy enough as it was, they didn't need a storm to make it worse. To top it all off, no one was here. Travellers, countrymen and warriors alike avoided this place like a disease, which made the place frightfully boring for her.

Kiénay had come here three days ago, lured by the density and mysterious aura of this secluded forest, but she hadn't been expecting this. If she knew the woods would be this empty, she would've stayed in Friar forests, where wanderers were more common. At first, she'd loved the forest. Wood nymphs were creatures with a natural tendency towards darkness and all things evil – although most of them, including her, kept that in check – and the forest had been very appealing to her. However, what she loved above anything else was people. Without living people to annoy, this place might as well have been a plain, old rock.

Suddenly, she heard something. Her hearing wasn't that good, and the drumming of the rain didn't help, but the proximity of the sound helped her make it out. Footsteps; stepping in and out of the mucky ground. Her lips stretched into a smile. Travellers, maybe? Had her torture finally come to an end? She tiptoed, almost glided swiftly towards the sound. The mud was of no bother to her; she could move it aside with her powers, it being partly composed of earth. She stopped to peer through the leaves of a row of trees.
